A Load Of Balls.
Todays efforts produced a new spark gap ( as yet untested ).
I like the old " RQ" gap, it works well but, I want a gap that is easier to adjust.
No Nasty steel bolts. Shorter cables.Easy to adjust. Now I just need it to work.
3 Spare balls for a new safety gap ( to follow ).

6 Inch Stainless Steel Ball
This Picture gives a fair idea of Spark length. Nick popped in saturday, as has become the norm. We set the coil up with the 10" toroid and got measured 24" sparks.. The ball is around half the diameter of the toroid but still achieves good results.

Tesla Tuner
I really should have built this 12 months ago. Great little tool.
Thanks to Terry Fritz for the design .
This project was very hard, I had no ceramic capacitors, I was forced to buy one. 10 million caps in my junk box and not one that was even close to being right.. So the project set me bak 15 pence, that hurt ...
Pic was done with the webcam. Benq DC1300..This blog gets so tatty when Stu is away..

Coil
This was a temporary setup, for testing the new primary..

New Primary Coil.
Out with the Old.
The old Primary coil was way out of tune with the Secondary Coil.
Here`s the trial run with the new Primary fitted.
Specs
12" toroid,5nf cap-50kv ( Thanks Nick )
5kv NST
Toroid Saucpan lid with car heater duct, coated with sticky back alloy tape.
Primary 4.25" x 16".
This is a daylight picture, the room is always dark. The ceiling light makes the lighting look worse. I could have used a flash, but the sparks would probably been drowned out by all that light..

I picked up 2 Vivitar 283 Flashguns this week ( from Ebay ). These Flashguns a far more powerful than my old flash, and with luck we`ll be able to get some brighter Images soon..Stu is taking a well earned break with the family, this will mean no new pics for at least 2 weeks..
Maybe i`ll try the Canon again, but it is not nearly as good as Stu`s digital SLR..
