The Joule Thief.
I have always liked quick and easy projects. Something that I can make and use on the same day will always get my attention.
The Joule Thief on Big Clives ( http://bigclive.com/ ) site is one of my favourites. I have made a few of these now. Here is one I made earlier..Checkout Big Clives for other Interesting stuff to make and do.
Stu popped in today, we found time to pull apart 2 Vivitar 283 Flash guns.I bought the pair on ebay, sadly neither worked properly. ( dodgy Ebay dealers ). Luckily for us, both flashguns had easily repairable faults. Negative cable to the Flash-Head-Board was bust. Fixed. The other flash unit had a broken wire also, to the thyristor connector. Fixed. That Explains why he never had a thyristor for either of the flashes (He knew neither worked). We added a couple of Extra wires to enable connection to the fast flash.
Now we need to order up some time, to shoot some pics.
